I have heard about him before. I actually have his first book at my house in FL but have yet to read it. But my question is who is he? and what is his message? Is he a very spiritual person and yogi as suggested?

Josh!!! Wassamattayou??? Surely you know how to do research, at least a little bit. You know, as in "GOOGLE??" for one and the great book of knowledge known as the Encyclopedia, for starters? I love to do research, do it all the time, and I'm pretty good at it, Gypsy is BETTER, but here again, the answer lies within your question, so one more time, and then you solo with this stuff ~
Yogananda Paramahansa was a Yogi. Definitely was a Yogi and grew to be a famous and beloved teacher. He founded the Self-Realization Fellowship (an okay place, imo) (there are SRF branch schools all over the place ~ I knew of one in So. CA near Solana Beach) ~ and the purpose of that Fellowship was to disseminate worldwide his teachings on India's ancient practices and philosophy of Yoga and its tradition of meditation. He was very popular; thousands came to his lectures; for one thing, he was a handsome form of a man, easy to look at. A holy man with an interesting autobiography.
After meeting Mahatma Gandhi, Yogananda was given the monastic title of Paramahansa which means "supreme swan" ~ a title indicating the highest spiritual attainment.
From the young age of six years, he exhibited spiritual qualities far beyond the ordinary. At age 17, he met his guru (saint in the culture) and it was this guru Swami Sri Yukteswar who gave him the monastic title as above.
He died young, in his early 40's I believe, and yes, I would consider him a VERY spiritual person and a Yogi.

PN,
Thank you for your input, and no I didn't forget how to research. Haha, I just wanted some input from some people I knew and not the random internet. He is very intriguing to me, especially because I saw him break out of the role of understanding a single religion, as he has written a book called "The second coming of christ". I read some excerpts and really liked what he had to say. Also I was very pleased that he broke out of the "one religion or no religion" boundary. He is an interesting man.
What do these schools that he has built teach and offer to their followers?
thanks for your help.
In Peace,
Josh

beckyfo24,
I went to the link you posted, looked through all the pages, and here is my intake on it.
1. It expresses the ability to control another's mind thus eliminating free will, in a way, regardless of if they feel happy with what's going on. But by taking a man/woman's free will, we are ultimately intertwining their free will with ours, if even possible.
2. I'm not to sure of the real affects of these remedies. Anything you focus your mind on and truly want, you will most likely succeed in those goals. Possibly just the placebo affect with maybe a slight herbal benefit. But ultimately, we are responsible for the things in our lives, whatever you want/need is yours, just needs to be sought for the right way.
3. End sounds like a scam. Here's some history, here's our power, what's your problem, we can help, see if we have a remedy for you.... All part of an advertisment scheme.
If it's friends you want, get outside, do what you love and you will find friends. If it's love that you want, approach love innocently everytime and love with a full but cautious heart. If it's remedies for life you want, search yourself for the remedy. All solutions lie within, you are the remedy for your life.
In peace,
Josh

Well, beckyfo, since you are "commanding" not asking for information about the article, I am, personally a little reluctant to give any response, but following Josh's lead [Josh being generally more socially considerate than I might be under the circumstance and because I greatly respect Josh, well, for what it's worth, I WILL tell you what I think of the article] ~ aside from knowing little to nothing about Hebrew mystics, so called, or about the doctrine of Kabballah; "Real power is a man ability to control the forces around him" ~ this statement apparently refers to a man, a singular man, so what man?
Nonetheless, I believe that is a false statement, holds NO truth whatsoever and MOST CERTAINLY NO POWER. Here is why:
In the consensus reality, there are those who live to control [control being the operative word here]. They have no idea (and don't care to know) of its devastation. They don't care to know the damage that it can do, the successes it can sabotage, the hopes it can dash, the dreams it can destroy. They don't want to have anything to do with looking at how it fuels and fosters so much of the denial and the resistance they have. They don't want to know how much it is a consistent answer and response to fear and crisis in a world where you're not supposed to have those kinds of fears. I, personally, would HAVE to consider this article to be hogwash not worth the paper wasted to print it upon.
Not last and not least, control kills love. It absolutely does. Control is fear about love, essentially. "This is where I never could get love, or where I could lose love, or where I cannot respond to love." THEN there is control ~ there is fear around love.
An appropriate response to THAT may be: "I can understand that you are afraid of having, losing, or responding to love, but the way you're handling that doesn't work for me. So, either you change, or I'm out of here. I understand that when you try to CONTROL ME, you're just trying to be safe. But your safety is lethal. I won't play. I cannot, out of any respect for myself, play in this arena with you."
And THAT, I would consider real power; being in charge of YOUR reality according to YOUR design, not that of any other. So, do you back away from control or plunge headlong into love? I would say "the secret" ~ apparently gotta' have that secret, uggg, is be the Spiritual Fool. Plunge headlong into love.

To Ryanedwards,
Welcome to CS, ryan. Since you have not indicated to whom you address your post and mine was the last prior, I will assume you make reference to my post about control and beyond the need to control. I've read the link you posted. Since I spend considerable time in the "dumb-tree" ~ it's nice to have a neighboring tree, LOL. An analogy of Nature always works.
It may serve to define "success" "winner/loser" "right living" but for now, I am going to take exception to a couple of things.
Religion. I can and do agree that some religions can take one a long way "home" but not all the way. 'Tis that Jesus who I have to consider the greatest intelligence EVER for all of humankind would have nothing to do with religion. Was he a wus, a wimp, a loser? I doubt it.
Keep it Simple. "If you're in a hole, stop diggin'" ... Mark Twain; is simple AND piercing or profound, but I might wonder how or why one got in a hole in the first place. Poster GHOST sets out to transform complex into simple. In my belieif, it is complexity that lifts one higher; however, if one does not choose (operative word) to go higher, or swim deeper, then simple may turn the trick in the short term. It just did with the economic "bailout" ~ OR did it? To my reckoning, simplicity is as sympathy; a little bit is okay but more than that buys problems down the road.
Thanks for contributing to CS, ryan.

It always necessary for a person to have a spiritual impact in his life to get successful.Spiritualism is the act by which an individual becomes more and more confident and gets the hints on how to stay a happy life. Your post reminds me of one another post i have seen [sic] which was also depicting the success in life. Last edited on Wed Oct 8th, 2008 03:08 pm by Cosmeta

To Ryanedwards,
A "spiritual impact" ~ not to be confused with religion, yes?
I know what spirituality is ~ spiritualism is not within my belief system. And, I am wary of the dictate of "always" in most instances. You seem to be hooked on this article and success as a word, ryan, so fine. Each has their own perspective. Each creates their own reality.
btw, the (spiritual) definition of happiness is meeting your needs. The definition of joy is fulfilling your preferences. I would personally prefer to need than need to need.

Yes, Yogananda is indeed a yogi and he wrote an excellent book which I feel shed light on the mystical and metaphysical power of yoga. There is another such book which I think is also good at highlighting the supernatural and divine power of yoga. Its called This Is PK manuscript. I consider it a must read for anybody who is serious about yoga, personal development and developing mind powers. I have learned a lot from both books and have actually developed telekinesis from This Is PK.
First it is important to note that there are so many forms of yoga that all lead to different results. Yogananda practiced Kriya Yoga under the guided meditation of Lahiri Mahasaya who is his guru. My favorite thing about both books is that they obviously focus on the supernatural and paranormal side of yoga. They both make it quite clear that certain forms of yoga can lead to higher mental and spiritual powers.
