Hi,

I came across these two definitions while reviewing some old notes I had taken a very long time ago. They are not my words but those of another; but thought the perspective presented here interesting; and might serve as a good starting point for group discussion. In presenting them here, I make no claims as to their accuracy or truthfulness.

OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES
"An OBE, (also OOBE,) is the experience of perceiving what we think of as the real world from a position outside of your physical body. This is a very real experience where you seem to be fully present outside of your body. You may or may not seem to be inhabiting a second body while out.

ASTRAL PROJECTION
"Also the experience of being outside the physical body, but taking place in an environment other than what we think of as the real world. After an OBE it is possible for you to physically visit the location you experienced while out of body. In Astral Projection, you could not physically go where you had been while out of body."

WDYT?

Hi all,

I have been experiencing the so called Astral projection and still trying to understand what's really happening to me ... if anyone here can share their Astral Projection experiences here... it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

I've experimented with Astral Projection; but it was a long time ago. What do you need to know? I am not an expert, but perhaps I can help.

When you astral projected: What did you see? What did you feel? What did you hear? Where did you go? Were you aware of being in another body? Another time, perhaps? Did you think you were dead? Did you try to move and if so, what happened when you did?

I realize this is an old post, but it got me to thinking about an astral projection I did while in meditation one time.

It was one of the most intense meditations I had ever had. I was in total darkness when all of a sudden like fire works, I saw the image of a beautiful rose. I was moving without a body through a very peaceful darkness. It was strange because it was the darkest blackness I can remember and there was nothing, yet I was. I was not frightened, I was weightless and I felt as though I was swiming through the Universe, with that thought, in an instant I was playing in the Universe, I saw planets and stars, with only a thought I could go were I pleased. It was very calming, very beautiful and I knew that all was right.

I could have stayed in that place forever, but I was living in a townhouse at that time and one of my neighbors started yelling at their child, and imeadiately I was pulled back to the here and now. I remember being upset with the neighbor because I was not ready for that experience to end. Most of you know about meditation, while calming more often than not that is all you will experience.

New or old, CosZ Shack messages are made available for members to post to, Annie. Your meditative experience sounds like you had a very pleasant oobe experience. That in itself might make for an interesting topic, Annie because many are not aware that intense meditation, prayer or contemplation can produce an out-of-the-body experience. This can present some dangers and pitfalls also for those unaware.

For example, meditation is such a popular technique these days, but mostly it is being used in the American system as a way to relax or to reduce stress. When this is the primary focus neither student or teacher may be aware that one of the mystical side effects of meditation is the opening of the 3rd eye and a loosening of the astral body vehicle. Hence an out of the body experience can be produced by an opening of any one of the seven chakras.

This is why I truly think it imperative that meditation not be entered into lightly; for fun or for relaxation only. There are things one must do in their daily lives when they meditate. And although many may not think so, traveling a meditative path is really hard work. It is not just about sitting idle cross legged. It is about making improvements to our daily lives, physically, emotionally and mentally. When those things are done, then the spiritual part becomes easier and less burdensome. It is not only natural, it is a drug free high; whereas thrill seekers or those willing to experiment with drugs for the sake of experiencing the unknown are really missing out, in my not so humble opinion.

Still, there are many who may not realize that meditation can propell one into the other dimensions, as in the case of an oobe. So the goal here would be to elevate oneself so that they do not travel the lower astral planes but instead ascend higher. This cannot be forced, or should not be. It sounds like you had a nice trip though. And although you may have wished to stay longer, think of your neigbor's sounds as God's messanger here on earth who called to you because this is where you were needed. In other words, don't immediately assume it was a distraction. And even if it was, do try to flow with it instead of fighting it.

For you to have seen planets and stars chances are you were in your light body and not necessarily your astral body. In other words, you were mind projecting, much different and usually a higher experience than to travel on the astral. Again, in my opinion. ~smile

As to your beautiful rose, please take another look at our Avatar section under xtraFlowers. Look at the 10th row down, fifth column.

Cosmeta, I seem to visit lower astral planes but really do not feel frighten. But my question is how do we avoid traveling there ? Do we ask the higher source or tell ourselves ahead of time?

L&L,

Ah... interesting question. May not be simple to answer though. Yes we can ask our Higher Self; and yes, we can listen to that guidance when given. Yet I have found that in order to elevate ourself we actually have to live it through. And by that I do mean, be living a good life so that we become our higher self. By so doing we add light into our auric field---a light we can take with us through time memorial. This is not done magically or in one lifetime only, but through a series of liftetimes.

Meditation and Prayer are extremely useful tools. Using a focal point in those meditations or prayers. Having a positive affirmation. But one of the more useful tools, me thinks is having a belief system that we can elevate ourselves out from the lower astral plane. Oh, how it is worded in scripture, "Believing ye can move mountains."

Improvement, Dove... we constantly need to make improvements to our ability to concentrate. And so, when we enter a sleep state or a dream state or a meditation of period of prayer I think it is important for us to use our mental focus... Yet here is the trick.... mental concentration will not work by itself unless we have the DESIRE to propell that thought.

We can just think: I want out of here. We have to really and truly desire it and on a soul's level. I do hope you are understanding me here... and if per chance you are not I will give you a simple example:

Many years ago, when I was experimenting with altered states of consciousness, projection, etc., I might have started out with a pre-conceived *mental* notion of where I wanted to go and on what plane I wished to travel to; yet once I was out of body, I found that all those earthly rules go flying right out the window. Why? Because we are on another plane---the astral for example. And while on the astral we must funcion with and from our astral body vehicle. And what does our astral vehicle need most... DESIRE... we have to want it; cause another name for astral body is our Emotional Body. Much differerent vehicle than our Mental Body.

So here I am wanting to visit the higher heavens... and lo and behold I have a brief and fleeting thought... Oh, I said to self, I miss my mom.

Next thing I know, I am in Florida and in her kitchen.

~smile.
