Section I---The Beginning |
JOHN was in the Jordanian desert baptizing, and preaching Isaias' doctrine of forgiveness, unto repentance of sins, saying in the Hebrew: Repent and believe in my father's Gospel of Peace: For Beth`an is close at hand and the Essenes are ready to receive you. [That is to say, John's new commandment was this: Convert and believe in the Gospel of Love, for the Kingdom of Heaven is not far away and the Baptists are ready to accept you as apostles of God]. 05 And John was clothed in white for Amen's sake, (which is being interpreted, according to the feminine: for the sake of Righteousness); and he wore a feather-like cordon of strength about his waist; and from the time of his premature birth he ate lamb's milk and fresh honey and was called Immanuel by his father Simon ben-Jonah,* because he came from the womb of Anna the Prophetess, the mother of all righteousness, and because he was born, not on the Temple floor, but on the alter of the holy of holies. 06 And there went out to our Saviour all the country of Galilee and Sumaria, and all they of Judea and Jerusalem, and were miraculously healed by the 'Baptism of John' in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 07 And it came to pass, that upon the urgings of Simon my tongue-twisted friend, that I came from Genez`areth of Galilee, and was also baptized by John in the river Jordan confessing my sins of rebellion. For after his own baptism, Simon was three days in coming to Galilee, and as soon as I heard him speak well, I was three days in going to John. |
Section II--David's Baptism |
08 And one week later, (that is to say, on Wednesday, the seventeenth day of January), John prophesied to me saying: Amen I say unto you David ben Adam, thou shalt no longer be called a man or war because thou hast a rebellious nature, but thou shalt be crowned the king of peace, for thou art truly the incarnation of Solomon. For I have baptized you with living water, the symbol of life and purity; but She who is above me like a Dove shall baptize and alight you a second time with the Holy Spirit, for She who is above me like the sun, comes before me. 09 And forthwith coming out of the water, I was reborn a 'man of peace'. For my spiritual eyes were opened to John's baptismal rite of naming; and having been given the gift of second sight from my previous life,* I saw the heavens spread out like a book unsealed, and a ghostly Spirit as a Great White Dove descending, was to remain with me, reestablishing my covenant with God and with Torah. 10 And out of the dove-like cloud there came an All-Forgiving Voice from heaven saying to me: Thou art the Son of Wisdom; in thee I am well pleased, and I will not remember thy sins from thy past life.* And it was, according to solar time, about the fourth hour of the day when I was baptized, for the eventide (which is, sunset) was approaching. 11 And immediately, the same All-Forgiving Spirit drove me out into the desert wilderness of wadi Beth`an, and there under the peaceful stars, I slept silently for the entire night, (that is to say, on Thursday night, the eighteenth day of January). |
Section III--A Spiritual Retreat |
12 And I was in Beth`an (which is here being identified with the ruins of Qumram), for forty sun-lit days, and for forty moon-lite nights, and was tempted to break my Spirit directed retreat, and return home before completing my period of atonement: But did not! And I was with John; and John's angelic parents who also lived in the Kingdom of Heaven ministered unto me and kept me safe. 13 And before that, John the Baptist was resurrected up: For Herod himself had sent and apprehended John, and bound him in fetters and chains, for the sake of Herodias the wife of king Philip his brother, because he had married her on the day before Mark's ordination, but illegally. |
