Part Seven--Enroute to Jerusalem |
PHASE NINETEEN |
NABOATH'S VINEYARD |

Section I-- The Vineyard Owner |
02 And on Wednesday even, the seventh day of April, as I stopped to make camp in Dok (Nobe), the deserted city of old Jericho, the multitudes began to flock to me as they had done for John. But as I had acclimated to the will of God, it was I who now led them, and not John. 03 And having come to John's vineyard, calling my disciples together, I saith unto them: I have compassion on the multitudes, for behold, since we left Genez`areth and the sea-side of Alepheus, many have now been with me for three sun-lit days, three moon-lit nights; and this is now the fourth day. 04 And other tribes who have been following me come from afar off; and from the time they left their own homes, many of them grow faint, for they have nothing left to eat. And if I shall do nothing to end their fast on this day, they will die of starvation along the way, for Jerusalem is still a one day journey ahead. |
Section II--The Vinedresser |
05 And my disciples answered me, saying: From whence can any one fill them with bread in this fruitless wilderness? 06 And comparing myself to the 'man of fruit', [who is John and not Naboath], answering, I saith unto them: When I broke the five loaves and the two fishes with John's apostles, how many baskets full of fruit did they collect? And my disciples answered, and said to me: Twelve. 07 And I saith unto them: How then do you not yet understand the meaning of communal living? It is more fruitful to give to the poor, than to deny them. For when I fed John's flock of five thousand, the 'heir of the vineyard' had seven apostolic vines of fruit, whilst I, his vinedresser have pruned eleven branches. 08 And I asked them, and saith unto them: How much food do we have? Levi answered and said: Eight loaves of leavened bread. And Simon answered: Three little fishes. 09 And taking the eight loaves and the three fishes, giving thanks, I broke, and gave to my disciples to set before the people. And they set them before the people. And sharing in this second communion, we all did eat and were filled. 10 And completing the circle, they that did eat on Thursday even, the eight day of April, including those whom I collected at Jericho, were about four thousand. 11 And upon awakening early, as I went out of old Jericho, with my disciples, a growing vineyard of Galileans and Judeans; and Geshurians and Samarians; and from beyond the Jordan in the desert wilderness of wadi Beth`an where John was buried. And as far north as Canaan and Sidon; a great multitude, hearing the things which I had done, joined me on their way to Jerusalem to celebrate the holy day of the Passing-Over. |
