Angel: From the Latin angelus and the Greek angelos. Also from the Hebrew malak meaning literally "a person sent" or a messenger. Simply put, an angel is a person or an etheric being and one who has obtained to this office by many incarnations thus attaining this heavenly office or station.
Many Christians believe that angels are spiritual beings who have never incarnated; but just the opposite be true. For example, John the Baptist is referred to as the "messenger" who shall appear before the Messiah. And another word for messenger is angel. Jesus also tells us that when we die we shall become as the angels who art in heaven. We can see why angels are often depicted in human form symbolized by having wings to denote flight or freedom from their earthly bonds.
